19. Researching Indie Narrative/Performance Videos

Looking at the history of music videos it's shown me that there are very little niche ideas anymore. For example, Frank Turner - The Road shows an aspect of using his fan base in the video by travelling to 24 places in 24 hours and playing for them to show in the video. This was a niche idea when was first done but as time has passed people have obviously copied and used it meaning it changed from being a meme to a trope. Showing that many ideas aren't actually original anymore and are very limited.


Although, some people often portray them better than others obviously. It's rare to get a very niche idea, this is down to there being so many videos and songs because stereotypically, every song an artist releases it has a video for promotional purposes. Another reason there are little niche videos, is due to the fact people like to push the boundries and are often critised often for their ideas, particularly if they're very explicit. It's difficult for people to be different when they have certain boundries. But, as I said, many ideas have become tropes as they have been done many times.
