There are often set conventions of a film trailer, although some differ, especially depending on the genre of the film. However, there are those that follow specific conventions. These include;
- soundtrack to co-inside with the film
- chronological order of events
- key characters and key scenes
- a climax to draw the audience in
- voice over
By researching a few film trailers I was able to notice the conventions that continue to be conveyed throughout and where some differ.

- attractive male/female focus points
- emotive
- emotive music - contrasting to the movie
- chronological - short version of the film, portraying the attractive parts
- actors names, big names attracting the audience
- title of film
