2. Top Music Videos

Music videos are currently a big part in the music industry when artists are promoting new songs. YouTube and music channels have been a influential factor in this allowing them to be shown regularly and searched by the demographic. There are obviously many different types and ideas for music videos, sometimes the more original the better. Some artists stick with original ideas where as some prefer to change it up and do something daring, if it pulls off, it's far more effective. Here are three music videos I like and the reasons why I like them.

1. Old Pine - Ben Howard

The majority of Ben Howards genre is acoustic music, and creates a 'laidback' approach. This is shown in this video as it's very simple, yet effective. I love this video due to how it creates this feel and relates to the song. Throughout the song he reminsices and sings about memories of summertime. The video shows this by showing an idelic setting, of the beach and showing old pines in the woods with the sun shining. Personally, I love the summer, especially the beach and showing it in this way. For example, with the sun setting and I like how he's showing how beautiful the setting is in a natural form, not changing it or making it artificial - once again relating back to the genre of his music. This video shows how sometimes simple is as effective as a complex video.

2. Lego House - Ed Sheeran

I love this video due to how original it is and how no one would have expected them to use someone like Rupert Grint to represent Ed Sheeran in his own video. The video doesn't particually relate to the song, however, it shows someone with an obsession with Ed Sheeran and the extremes he goes to. It's clever how they've done it due to them both obviously being ginger and Rupert Grint being a well recognised character. The video is like a short story so people want to continue watching throughout the whole of the song and want to see it to watch the end. People will obviously have a buzz of the fact Rupert Grint is included in the video and the clever idea so will talk and advertise it - leading to more buzz about the actual song. It's a different idea to the orignial types of videos which also portrays the type of character Ed Sheeran is.

3. Life InTechnicolor - Coldplay

This video is once again an original idea, but is a very good idea and very effective. It uses the perfomance aspect of a video with the band performing but does it with a twist which is why I love it. Instead of just performing, they're using puppets and portraying it as a 'boring' puppet show, however it's a bit different and everyone is amazed - just like their actual shows. I personally think this is good because no one has used an idea like this, it keeps the aspect of perfomance but has a twist so people will remember the song and video.
